    SAA, Jet Airways expand codeshare agreement

    South African national carrier South African Airways (SAA) and India international airline Jet Airways have expanded their codeshare agreement to allow passengers to book and travel between India and South Africa on the combined networks of the two airlines. The enhanced codeshare arrangement allowed SAA to brand its marketing code on Jet Airways’ services between Abu Dhabi and Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.

    Sars’ customs legislation overhaul to be rolled out in phases

    The South African Revenue Service (Sars) plans to unpack a number of new Acts that will change the landscape of the customs framework, and will provide some highlights of what to expect from an Act that has left the freight transportation industry somewhat apprehensive, within the next two months. Customs operations executive Penny Bologo on Tuesday explained that the “monster” new Acts, which formed part of the country’s customs modernisation ambitions, would be implemented in seven phases, starting with the phase one leasing and accreditation stage.

    Acting CEO stresses PRASA remains on track

    With continued controversy besetting the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA), acting CEO Nathi Khena on Friday assured stakeholders that the embattled parastatal remained on track despite its ever-spiraling woes. Speaking at a press conference at PRASA’s Pretoria offices, he said the company, directed by an approved strategy in line with government ambitions, continued “full steam ahead” on its multibillion-rand agenda to revamp its ageing rail network.
