    Cape Town taxi drivers with outstanding warrants worth almost R3m feel the heat

    The City of Cape Town had a busy weekend hunting down 176 minibus taxi drivers who owe almost R3-million in outstanding warrants. Warrant dodgers “hit the skids” during operations in Delft, Manenberg, Mfuleni and Kraaifontein between Thursday and Sunday, said the City’s safety and security mayoral committee member, JP Smith, on Monday.

    Two killed as South African plane crashes in Tanzania

    Two project directors were killed when a light aircraft registered in South Africa crashed in Tanzania on Saturday, the company said on Sunday.  “U Dream Global: Cape to Cairo Challenge is devastated to report that there has been an accident of the flight support aircraft and that the project directors, Des Werner and Werner Froneman, have lost their lives,” a short statement on their Facebook page said.

    Two project directors were killed when a light aircraft registered in South Africa crashed in Tanzania on Saturday, the company said on Sunday.  “U Dream Global: Cape to Cairo Challenge is devastated to report that there has been an accident of the flight support aircraft and that the project directors, Des Werner and Werner Froneman, have lost their lives,” a short statement on their Facebook page said.

    Former Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) CEO Lucky Montana says he is “ready to testify before the Zondo commission” of inquiry into State capture. On July 26, Montana submitted a letter, notifying the commission of his intention to make a submission and testify in August.

    Tshwane CBD gridlocked as striking municipal bus drivers block roads

    The entire Tshwane central business district was gridlocked on Monday morning as disgruntled municipal bus drivers went on strike, seeking an increase in wages. “I received the first report at about 06:00 that municipal bus drivers had parked their vehicles and left with their keys,” Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) spokesperson Isaac Mahamba told News24 on Monday.
