    Regulator grants approval for new PRASA trains on Mamelodi corridor

    The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) on Thursday received approval from the Rail Safety Regulator to operate new trains along the Pretoria–Pienaarspoort corridor, in Mamelodi.

    “The deployment of the new trains also known as the ‘people’s train’ is testament to the success of the Minister’s War Room initiative, which focuses on service recovery, safety management and aims to accelerated capital programme implementation,” said PRASA CEO Dr Nkosinathi Sishi.

    Princess Elizabeth Dry Dock set for seven-week shutdown for upgrades

    State-owned Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) on Monday confirmed that the Port of East London’s Princess Elizabeth Dry Dock will be out of commission for seven weeks, from October 14 to December 3, in order for upgrades to be implemented.

    TNPA has invested R57-million towards two upgrade projects at the dry dock to support the sustainability of the region’s ship repair and boat building capability.
